Grace Gathering Family Member,
Thank you so much for your generous pledge toward our “For the Sake of Others” spiritual campaign. We were overwhelmed with our congregation’s generosity.
As you heard, the total amount pledged was $1,070,000. We also had a first fruit offering of $125,000.
We are going forward with the Haiti church plant and believe that will take place this Fall. We are also taking steps on the family training center. We know this will take longer to establish, but we are putting plans together to make progress this next year in helping Central and New Life engage further in the Oxford neighborhood.
The pledges everyone made are 18 months pledges. This means we have until November 30th, 2023. Most of us made both sight and faith portions, and for some of us the faith portion will come fast, and for others God may not provide it until the very end. This is why we have called this a spiritual journey.
Also, as a reminder, these pledges are in addition to our regular giving or tithe. We know in Scripture giving the first portion (10% being a guideline) is for the purpose of trusting God and being obedient to him in our spiritual walk. This is to be regular and consistent. Generosity is about giving for needs on top of our tithing as God prompts us to give that is more spontaneous. This is what this campaign has been about, and it is how we have handled all of our past campaigns.
As God provides, we would love to hear the stories. Please let us know. We will have a place on our website where these stories can be shared. We will also send you a personal email once every other month to update you on where you are at in your pledge. Lastly, most people choose to give their tithing electronically and will also give their pledge amount electronically as well. You can do that through a credit or debit card, but please know there is a 2.5% fee. If you give by connecting your checking account, the fee is only $.50 per transaction. This saves money and is by far the best way to give electronically, but both are safe and secure. Giving physical checks is always fine as well.
